VALLEYS OF NEPTUNE

In keeping with the spiritual aspects of his life, Jimi often wrote about, and painted, images of celestial bodies.

The new album release and limited edition are titled Valleys of Neptune. This is the artwork that was chosen for this monumental album release of new music.

One can only imagine that Jimi dreamed of being in a fantastical spot like the one he has depicted in this beautiful painting. The bold use of color and contrasting the sky against a surreal landscape evokes feelings of being far away from the day to day world.

The piece has a spiritual feel which is in keeping with Jimi’s vision of a sky church.

Once again we see that this man was a very complicated and talented individual that lived and dreamed in several dimensions at the same time. It is interesting to note how his art and music follow similar directions.

SEATTLE WATERFRONT

The port of Seattle was a bustling, working man’s location in the late 50’s – very different from the tourist destination that it is today.

In this wonderful watercolor Jimi has captured the energy and activity of the waterfront. Many of Jimi’s paintings are from his travels around the Seattle area. The buildings in the background seem to be glowing and evoke a sense of power.

These types of scenes obviously had a great influence on this very impressionable young man at a time when he was beginning to evolve into one of the most creative personalities of the 20th century.
