This wonderful watercolor was part of a series of paintings that Jimi did in the late 50’s. They were about the landscapes that surrounded him and his childhood in the Pacific Northwest. They also drew upon imagery that came from his vivid imagination and contain an ethereal feel that puts the viewer in a dream like space where Jimi’s creativity came from. Later in his life, while he was writing and performing, he referred to this space as the Sky Church.

Jimi’s connection to the spiritual world is evident in many of his paintings as well as his music.
